Olmec Available at Matador Cigars!
Olmec Cigars are characterized as an homage to Mexico and its ancient Mesoamerican inhabitants of the San Andrés Valley in Veracruz. Consequently, the Olmec blend incorporates two distinct Mexican San Andrés wrappers – one featuring a lighter claro wrapper, and the other a darker and more robust maduro wrapper.
The heartland of the Olmecs in Mexico are the tropical lowlands of Veracruz, Tabasco, and San Andrés Tuxtla. This is the same region today that grows some of the finest San Andrès Negro wrapper tobacco.
This seed variety is considered one of the oldest in the world. Olmec cigars contain the finest Nicaraguan filler tobaccos from the Estelí and Jalapa valleys. After fermentation, these filler tobaccos are bale-aged for three years before arriving on the production floor.
The San Andrés Negro wrapper tobacco comes from the rich volcanic soil of the land of the Olmecs. It is fermented slowly at low temperatures to preserve the natural oils that give it flavor. The blend delivers a full-bodied smoking experience with rich flavors of cacao, dark espresso, and spice without being too aggressive.
Both versions use Nicaraguan binders and fillers and are produced by AJ Fernandez in Nicaragua. The Olmec Claro is offered in the following sizes:
- Olmec Claro/Maduro Corona Gorda (5 1/2 x 48)
- Olmec Claro/Maduro Robusto (5 x 50)
- Olmec Claro/Maduro Toro (6 x 52)
- Olmec Claro/Maduro Grande (6 x 60)
- Olmec Claro/Maduro Double Corona (7 x 52)
